Selma Precision Technologies (SPT), an India-based company, will occupy the former Sona BLW Precision Forge site in Selma, N.C., and reopen it in June or July. According to Vinay Upadhyay, director of business strategies and growth for SPT, the company has invested $7.2 million on the property and getting the 100,000-square-foot plant back into operating condition. The facility will manufacture parts in car transmissions, gear boxes and differentials. It will start with approximately 40 employees. SPT plans to invest another $3-4 million in the facility during the next two years.
