ThyssenKrupp Rothe Erde GmbH (TKRE), a global manufacturer of slewing bearings and a producer of seamless rolled rings, placed an order with Siempelkamp for a new 6,000-ton upsetting and piercing press. The equipment will be installed at the company’s plant in Dortmund, Germany, for the manufacture of ring blanks. The press will produce ring blanks for an existing rolling mill with weights between 400 kg (882 pounds) and 25 tons and in diameters of up to about 8 feet (2,500 mm) and heights of up to about 32 inches (830 mm). The higher press force capacity will allow for the production of larger ring blanks of higher-strength materials in the future.
