FIA recently held its largest-ever Forge Fair in Columbus, Ohio. The global event featured exhibitors, speakers and attendees from many different countries and broke records for the amount of exhibit space. More than 60 papers were presented, and 160 organizations exhibited at the event.

Members of the forging community from around the world convened at the Greater Columbus Convention Center on March 26-28 to participate in Forge Fair 2013. The event, billed as The International Showcase of Forging Technology, was organized by the Forging Industry Association (FIA), which was coincidentally commemorating its 100th anniversary at the event. (See our two-part article on FIA’s history, which began in our April 2013 issue and concludes in this issue.)

A combined total of 1,500 attendees, exhibitors, speakers and students registered for this event, which opened its exhibition doors at 11:00 a.m. on March 26. Meals and beverages were sponsored during exhibition sessions, offering exhibitors and attendees a chance to conduct business, renew old friendships and make new ones. About 160 exhibitors were present to display their products and services.

The technical program consisted of 60 papers presented during the three-day event in four simultaneous tracks. The papers covered a wide range of topics, including press technologies, process controls, computer modeling, thermal processes, metals and alloys, material handling, lubricants and lubrication, and more.

Forge Fair has historically been a triennial event, but FIA’s board has voted for a two-year cycle for future events. If you were unable to make it to Columbus, the next Forge Fair will be held April 14-16, 2015, in Cleveland, Ohio.

    See you there!

About 160 companies and organizations from around the world exhibited at Forge Fair 2013, demonstrating the latest and the best of forging equipment, consumables and services that the industry has to offer. Everything from large presses to furnaces to robotics to software modeling and more was available for examination by attendees.
