A joint venture owned by Kobe Steel, Toyota Tsusho and
Mitsui completed the first phase of construction at its facility in China and reportedly
commenced production of aluminum forgings. Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products
China (KAAP China) is located in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The facility
produces aluminum forgings for automotive suspensions in response to increasing
demand for lighter vehicles. Full completion of plant construction is scheduled
for March 2013.
