Wade and Jerry Brougher, owners of
Forge USA of Houston, Texas, recently hosted Senator John Cornyn of Texas at
their forging plant. The senator announced his proposed Small Business Taxpayer
Bill of Rights Act of 2012, which would make compliance less of a financial
burden for small businesses, better protect against IRS abuse, better
compensate for IRS abuses and improve access to the judicial system. The bill
includes provisions like allowing taxpayers to ask for mediation by someone who
is not employed by the IRS, prohibiting secret conversations between IRS
employees and the Office of Appeals and increasing compensation when the IRS
intentionally violates its own regulations. The Texas senator made the
announcement at Forge USA because the company suffered financial burdens during
its experience with the IRS during a tough audit.
I want to hear from you. Tell me how we can improve.
