Sheffield Forgemasters has expanded its global supply of civil nuclear power components with two new contracts. The U.K.-based company will supply forgings to power-generation company Babcock & Wilcox for the Argentine nuclear power program. In addition, it will supply forgings – destined for South Korea – to German pump manufacturer KSB. Both contracts will provide critical components used within nuclear power plants. The order for Babcock & Wilcox calls for four forged tubesheets, which form a core part of the steam generator with water pipes running through them. The forgings will weigh in at 20 metric tons each.

Forgemasters’ order with KSB is for forgings that will make up seal housings and covers for Westinghouse/KSB-designed reactor coolant pumps at the Shin Kori project, which is part of the South Korean nuclear power program. The contract is to create eight sets of components, each set made up of two forgings weighing in at 3.5 metric tons.
