Forged Components Acquires Western of Texas Forge & Flange

Forged Components Inc. (FCI) of Humble, Texas, announced the acquisition of Western of Texas Forge & Flange Co. (WTFF) in the fourth quarter of 2019. WTFF manufactures pipe flanges and forgings to standard and custom sizes to the oil and gas exploration and production, oil refining and processing, petrochemical, chemical, and power-generation industries. Kountze, Texas-based WTFF will continue to operate under its current name.

U.K. Forge Fined After Worker’s Death

Abbey Forged Products of Sheffield, U.K., pled guilty to a violation of the U.K.’s Health and Safety at Work Act and was fined $645,000 for a fatal incident at its facility. The deadly accident occurred when a large forging hammer was brought down on an alloy part that was not properly seated on its anvil, striking it with a glancing blow that caused the workpiece to be ejected from the anvil at great speed.
