The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers struck Wyman-Gordon (W-G) in Houston, Texas, at the expiration of the then-current collective bargaining agreement in August. The strike, which includes 271 workers, is over a three-year wage freeze, pay cut for new hires, lower disability benefits and other items offered in a proposed contract by W-G. Pickets were interrupted by Hurricane Harvey, but the strike is still in effect. W-G is a global producer of forged components for aerospace and energy applications. It is owned by Precision Castparts Corp., which was acquired by Warren Buffet in 2016.
