Schuler delivered a 4,000-ton hydraulic compression press to the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) of Knoxville, Tenn. IACMI, which is part of the Manufacturing USA network, is expanding an R&D vehicle scale-up facility in Detroit, Mich. The facility is operated by Michigan State University on behalf of IACMI. The technology focus areas of the institute are vehicle parts, wind-turbine blades and compress-gas storage. The upstroke short-stroke press has a clamping surface of 142 x 94 inches. The addition of this hydraulic press increases IACMI’s equipment available to more than 150 members of the organization.
