Stanley Black & Decker of New Britain, Conn., is expected to open a new $35 million manufacturing facility in the U.S. after its recent acquisition of the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings. Though its location has not yet been determined, the new plant’s additional domestic capacity will help return manufacture of the Craftsman brand to the U.S. Stanley Black & Decker bought the Craftsman line earlier this year for approximately $900 million.
Stanley Black & Decker President and CEO James Loree said, "It’s going to be advisable to have more manufacturing in the U.S. We believe this is an excellent opportunity to re-Americanize and revitalize this legendary brand."
