Russia’s VSMPO-AVISMA Corp., a manufacturer of titanium and forged products, and Alcoa Samara, the Russian subsidiary of Alcoa, opened a joint venture in early September called AlTi Forge. The joint-venture company will produce large, advanced titanium and aluminum forgings for global and domestic aircraft manufacturers at Alcoa’s plant in Samara. These forgings will be used in aircraft landing gear and wing structures. The companies seek to broaden their market base and increase the value-added content of their products.
