IBC Advanced Alloys Corp. secured "Approved Forging Supplier" status with General Dynamics Electric Boat, which designs, constructs and provides lifecycle support of submarines for the U.S. Navy. This status positions IBC to provide forged product to Electric Boat through approved suppliers and provide material directly to Electric Boat. IBC has previously supplied product to Electric Boat through other approved suppliers. The qualification for IBC was awarded after Electric Boat conducted audits of IBC’s metal forging facility in Franklin, Ind. Electric Boat has designed and delivered 15 of the U.S. Navy’s 19 classes of nuclear submarines.

In related news, IBC announced that is now an “Approved Forging Supplier” with Newport News Shipbuilding, which is the largest shipbuilding company in the U.S. The qualification with Newport News positions IBC to provide forged product to Newport News through approved suppliers. It was awarded after Newport News conducted due diligence of IBC’s Copper Alloys Division facility in Franklin, Ind.

Both qualifications position IBC to expand its forged products business.
