Alcoa Titanium & Engineered Products will invest more than $8 million to expand its aerospace forging capabilities at its Martinsville, Va., plant. This facility was part of Alcoa’s 2015 acquisition of RTI International. The investment, which will include two new forging furnaces and a billet grinding line, will reportedly double the facility's titanium production capacity and create 15 new jobs. The plant produces raw titanium products and finished forgings for the aerospace market. Alcoa expects the expansion project to be complete by the end of 2016.
