HHI Forging of Dearborn, Mich., announced plans to invest $7.5 million to install new forging equipment at subsidiary Impact Forge Group’s 138,000-square-foot facility in Columbus, Ind. The first stage of new equipment was installed last year with the second phase scheduled for installation through 2015. Impact Forge is a supplier of safety-related forged components to the automotive industry. The new, modern equipment will be used to increase production capacity of components used in new eight- and nine-speed transmissions. The company will add a third shift to its operations and employ additional people to support its expansion.
