Wyman-Gordon will invest $115 million and create 400 new jobs over a five-year period as it builds a new manufacturing plant in Dillon County, S.C. The facility will be located on 60 acres of land and will contain post-forging operations such as machining and thermal treatments. Construction is to begin before the end of this year, and production will commence in late 2015. Wyman-Gordon, a producer of titanium and superalloy forgings serving the aerospace and power-generation markets, stated that its customer base and South Carolina’s expanding aerospace industry were important factors in the decision to locate there. Wyman-Gordon was acquired by Precision Castparts Corp. in 1999.
