Linamar Corp. (Guelph, Ontario), Muhr und Bender KG and Mubea Motorkomonenten GmbH (MHKG) signed an agreement for Linamar’s purchase of MMKG’s business of manufacturing and distributing assembled camshafts. The camshaft business will continue to operate out of three locations in Germany (Hildburghausen, Thale and Thale-Warnstedt) and employ approximately 110 people. Linamar expects the assembled camshaft business to enhance its global product offerings. Additionally, the business has capabilities in hot forgings that will enhance Linamar’s process diversification.

“We are pleased to add this leading-edge lightweight and fuel-efficient hydroformed and assembled camshaft technology to our existing portfolio on camshafts,” said Linda Hasenfratz, Linamar’s CEO. “Their capabilities in hot-forging production will provide a significant enhancement to our machining and assembly operations globally.” The sale of the camshaft business is aligned with MMKG’s strategy to focus on weight-reducing solutions for products with which it can achieve market leadership, such as engine valve springs and transmission disc springs.
