Local authorities have reportedly approved the addition of a new 19,000-metric-ton hydraulic steel forging-press line at Firth Rixson’s Sheffield (U.K.) steelworks. The company plans to build a large industrial structure to house the new press line and other associated equipment, including four furnaces, cranes, conveyors and storage/control areas. The press line is expected to create 60 new jobs. The proposal includes the construction of another building to house the pump room that generates the energy to power the machines in the new forge.
