Metform, the forging operation of MacLean-Fogg Component Solutions, broke ground in late September on an 86,000-square-foot precision component machining facility adjacent to its existing hot-forming plant in Savanna, Ill. According to Metform, the $30 million investment is expected to create more than 50 new jobs in the next two years. With 10 Hatebur hot-forging presses, Metform is one of North America’s leading horizontal hot-forging companies and is a supplier to the automotive and agriculture industries. The company’s numerous engineered components include gear blanks, bearing races, industrial hot-formed components and wind-power components. Construction has started, and operations are expected to commence in the first quarter of 2013.
