The Forging Industry Association recently released its 2010 review of metal forging sales produced by independent (custom) forging plants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. North American sales (in U.S. dollars) of impression die forgings were $5.3 billion (up 11% from 2009); open die forging sales were $1.7 billion (up 7% from 2009); and seamless rolled ring sales were $1.3 billion (down 3% from 2009). Bookings of impression die forgings were up 42% over 2009; open die forging bookings were up 37%; and seamless rolled ring bookings were up 33%.
