Sheffield Forgemasters created a new company, RD26 Ltd., that will service the company’s internal work and aim to take on an increasing volume of external contracts. RD26 Ltd., which is headed by Professor Jesus Talamantes-Silva and supported by a highly qualified team, frees up the Research and Development division to offer its services externally. The new company will also work with visiting PhD students and graduates from U.K. universities. Dr. Graham Honeyman, chief executive of Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd. (SFIL), said: “Research and development is the fastest growing area of this company and is fundamental to the strategy of the business. The launch of RD26 marks the next stage in Forgemasters’ growth.” RD26 will continue to provide research and development support for SFIL’s technology transfer agreements with emerging economies.
