According to recent reports, Japan’s Sanyo Special Steel
intends to increase its rate of exported products to 30% by volume – doubling its current rate – to meet growing demand in foreign markets by 2014. In
November 2011, the company installed a 5,000-ton forging press, which is
intended for use in the manufacture of large bearings for wind-power
generation. This press, in addition to the company’s 1,500- and 3,000-ton
presses, will help Sanyo develop new applications and serve new forging
markets.
