GKN Driveline Expands Forge in Mexico
GKN Driveline, a unit of GKN plc and a supplier of
automotive driveline components and systems, announced the expansion of its
precision forge facility in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. The expansion involves an
$11.5 million investment and will be the third forge the company has built in
Celaya since 1979. When fully
operational later this year, the 28,000-square-meter facility will produce more
than 15 million forgings annually and employ 150 workers. GKN Driveline has invested
approximately $100 million in Mexico since 2005 and plans to invest a similar
amount over the next three years. Future expenditures will include investment
in machining and assembly plants as well as forging operations.
