Stokes Forgings to Close Hammer Operations at U.K. Plant
Stokes Forgings Ltd., a U.K.-based forger of medium- and high-volume automotive components, announced it would close part of its plant in Brierley Hill. The company will shut its hammer forging line at the end of February 2011 because of poor business conditions and rising production costs. The move will idle 50 to 100 of the company’s 220 employees. Mumbai-based Mahindra & Mahindra bought a majority stake in Stokes Forgings in 2006.
