Umformtechnik Radebeul GmbH awarded Schuler Group an order for a 1,200-ton screw press. With its special equipment, the new press will ensure a high quality standard for forged-aluminum parts. One of the key features responsible for the press’ high performance is its frequency-controlled direct drive system, which precisely controls the desired forming speed. In addition, the press control system monitors the complete process and stores all production data. With the aid of a touch screen, the operator can easily check the production process and access extensive documentation.
In three-shift operation, a wide variety of parts will be produced in small and medium-sized batches. They will be used for the production of cars and motorcycles as well as for the engineering and construction industries. Production launch is scheduled for October 2010. Based near Dresden, Germany, Umformtechnik specializes in drop forging aluminum parts.
