Perryman Co., a Houston, Pa.-based producer of titanium products, completed the purchase of the Pittsburgh operations of Accellent Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Accellent Holdings Corp. and a forging supplier to the medical-device industry.  Accellent produces cobalt chrome, titanium and stainless steel forgings with automated and manual forging operations. The company’s Pittsburgh plant occupies over 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space and includes facilities for post-forging operations such as heat treating, machining and polishing. Perryman said it would hire most of the plant’s 80 workers.

According to Perryman, the investment enables it to deliver a complete package from titanium melting to finished part manufacturing. The company plans to expand all of the operations and product families currently serviced by the Accellent facility. According to Accellent, the sale allows it to better focus on its core medical-device markets.
