Supplier of Forgings Orders Heat-Treatment Line
AFC-Holcroft received an order for an automated non-atmosphere batch heat-treatment line from a European-based supplier of forgings. The company is bringing its heat-treatment process in-house at its U.S. facility in the Midwest. The line consists of five direct-fired, non-atmosphere batch heat-treating furnaces, with automation provided by a SCADA system for a fully automated process. The equipment will be used to process raw forgings that will undergo normalizing, tempering, stress relieving and a quench-and-temper process.
The company, which supplies the forgings to the automotive industry, had outsourced its heat treatment and needed to ensure the new equipment would meet all the requirements for its various processes. To secure the order, AFC-Holcroft needed to prove to the company the return on investment. This was accomplished through meetings in the U.S. and abroad, calculations of costs, visits to customer sites, analysis of production schedules and testing of parts.
