Bharat Forge Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Maharashtra for its Centre for Advanced Manufacturing at Baramati. Bharat Forge is now actively pursuing new growth and high technology areas such as aerospace, marine and rail, power, energy, and mining and construction equipment. The Centre for Advanced Manufacturing will manufacture high technology, highly engineered critical and safety components for these industries. The Baramati plant will manufacture large crankshafts for marine and power; landing gear, engine and structural parts for aircrafts and helicopters; connecting rods for locomotives; and equalizer bars and spindles for construction machines.

The manufacturing facility, which will be spread over 100 acres of land and have a forging capacity of 30,000 metric tons per year, will employ over 1,200.

“The Centre for Advanced Manufacturing that is being set up at Baramati is the first major project of our company that is located outside Pune. We are happy that we have had the opportunity to locate our project in Baramati,” said B.N. Kalyani, chairman and managing director of Bharat Forge.

“We assure Bharat Forge of all the assistance needed to take the project forward,” said Vilasrao Deshmukh, chief minister of Maharashtra.
