Sheffield Forgemasters (U.K.) cast two large, highly complex pieces of a forging press for the heavy-truck production market in China. The two pieces will go into an SMS MEER (Germany) 12,500-ton forging press. The first and most complicated piece was the frame crown, with a finished weight of 256 tons. Originally meant to be cast in three segments, engineers finally decided to do it in one piece. The huge crown measures in at 6.3 meters in length x 4.5 meters in depth x 3.5 meters in width.

The second casting to be produced was the frame bed, with a finished weight of 172 tons. Both machined pieces are expected to be delivered in the latter part of 2010.
