Firth Rixson Limited, a U.K.-based provider of highly engineered forged-metal products, will build a manufacturing plant in Liberty County, Ga. The 200,000-square-foot closed-die forging operation will provide components for the aerospace industry. The new facility, which will be known as Firth Rixson Forgings LLC, is Firth Rixson’s first closed-die forging operation in the U.S. and fourth overall. Once fully operational, the plant will create at least 200 jobs.

According to Firth Rixson, the majority of construction will take place in 2010. Equipment and production testing will take place in 2011, and start-up is scheduled by 2012. Firth Rixson serves customers worldwide in market sectors such as aerospace, defense, power generation, transportation, petrochemical, medical and industrial. The company owns 11 operating facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.
