Germany’s Siempelkamp Group has been commissioned by Alcoa to engineer and produce the necessary cast parts to rebuild and modernize its 50,000-ton press in Cleveland, Ohio. As part of the order, Siempelkamp will cast 10 structural parts for the press with weights between 200 and 250 metric tons each in its Krefeld foundry. The large closed-die forging press produces structural parts made of aluminum for the aircraft industry. Siempelkamp has the knowledge to design presses of this magnitude and the ability to produce the large ductile-iron castings required for the job.

Siempelkamp’s scope of supply consists of 14 large cast parts for the upper, moving and lower beams as well as the foundation stools. Alcoa will carry out the installation of the cast parts on-site.
