FormTech Industries, a manufacturer of forged-steel components to the automotive light-vehicle, heavy-truck and industrial markets, announced that it is nearing the completion of newly installed additional forging capacity at its facility in Fraser, Mich. This project, which started in early 2008, was halted for a while due to the economic downturn. However, final installation of the 2,500-ton mechanical forging press was re-activated in mid-June 2009 with an expected completion date in late July. The Fraser plant employs 92 people, including hourly and salaried staff. “The addition of this technology at Fraser expands the plant’s existing core competency in shaft products to produce parts up to 60 inches long,” said Chris Jones, FormTech’s president.
