India’s Facor Steels Ltd. successfully commissioned its forging plant on July 10. The forging plant will be used for manufacturing of heavy rounds from ingots and has an annual capacity of 12,000 metric tons. The plant will produce 150- to 600-mm rounds apart from stepped shafts, squares and flanges. The grades will be plain carbon, low alloy, stainless and tool steels. Apart from forging, the plant also has the capacity to heat treat and machine the product for closer size tolerance. The plant includes a 2,000-ton open-die forging press, 58-ton manipulator, two 30-ton ingot reheating furnaces, controlled cooling pit and a 40-inch-capacity band-saw cutting machine.
