On March 12, the Forging Industry Association’s (FIA’s) Lobby Day, a record number of forgers visited Capitol Hill to make themselves and their positions known to legislators. FIA members and staff visited a total of 33 Congressional offices of Representatives and Senators from the following states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin. Forgers presented their positions on three important issues: opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act (HR 1409 and S 560), support for tax and energy policies that back the competitiveness of U.S. forgers, and support for U.S. energy policies that increase domestic supplies of oil and natural gas, as well as increased use of renewable energy.
