All of ThyssenKrupp’s domestic heavy-duty crankshaft forging and machining operations will be located in Danville, Ill., by November 2009. The Danville plant manufactures heavy-duty crankshafts for semi trucks and other large vehicles used in both domestic and international manufacturing sites. ThyssenKrupp and Systrand Presta Engine Systems, which also has a plant in Danville, worked out a cooperative agreement to provide the finished crankshafts to manufacturers. Since it purchased the current facility – the former Wyman-Gordon Forge – in 1991, ThyssenKrupp has spent approximately $200 million to upgrade and expand production capabilities. In addition, the company announced in April 2008 that it had selected Danville as the site for a combined machining line, which came with an investment of almost $40 million and 200 new jobs.

ThyssenKrupp received more than $1 million from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity as well as job-training grants, tax credits and savings by locating in the Danville/Tilton/Vermilion County Enterprise Zone.
