Bharat in Talks with Rolls Royce

India’s Bharat Forge, in an effort to grow its non-automotive business, is in talks with aircraft engine maker Rolls Royce for a possible alliance. The talks were prompted by India’s "offsets" program, in which foreign suppliers that win Indian contracts look for suitable local partners for domestic manufacture.

As the Indian aviation sector expects to purchase aircraft worth $5 billion annually, Bharat Forge sees a lot of potential opportunity. With Rolls Royce and other aircraft engine manufacturers set to partner with foreign civil and military aerospace companies, Indian manufacturers like Bharat are eager to team up with engine makers for the business.

Bharat Forge, a Kalyani Group Company, is also reportedly in talks with engine makers GE and Pratt & Whitney as well as airframe manufacturers Airbus and Boeing.
